The NOC Systems Engineer I will be responsible for provisioning, monitoring
and troubleshooting the WEB Hosting platform and customer applications for
the Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC is a 7x24 engineering and
support team with duties that include deploying, supporting and
troubleshooting multiple system platforms, multiple networks, databases and
applications. The NOC works closely with internal and external support teams
to quickly identify and bring resolution to business critical
incidents/problems ****

Key Responsibilities****

****

• Support day to day operations of internal and 3rd party production and
media delivery hardware and applications.****

****

• Provisioning and configuration of server platform environments, both
physical hardware and virtual machines.****

****

• Monitor application server and network environments, manage issue support
phone calls, open and route tickets, participate in support bridges with
on-call engineering and business groups.****

****

• Work on project teams comprised of members of Server and Storage
Operations, Network Engineering and Application Support in deploying and
managing infrastructure that supports new products and features.****

****

• Perform a physical inventory of data centers, reconciling data with the
systems inventory.****

****

• Perform as remote hands in data centers to check or restart or repair
equipment.****

****

• Write scripts to automate administration, provisioning and monitoring /
alerting tasks.****

****

Qualifications****

****

Previous Work Experience / Education****

****

3 to 5 years experience in Systems Engineering or Systems Administration. A
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or Electrical Engineering is
preferred, though relevant work experience and technical skill will be key
considerations.****

****

Qualifications Required: ****

****

• Strong administrative background in Linux and open-source technology
operations environments.****

****

• Strong shell scripting or programming ability in Perl, Python or Ruby
languages.****

****

• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.****

****

• Good written and verbal communication skills. Includes communicating
technical issues to non-technical teams****

****

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.****

****

• Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment; adapting quickly to
new technologies and changing conditions.****

****

• Previous experience with web related technologies including: HTTP, DNS,
SSL, SSH, and FTP.****

****

• Knowledge of OSI layer model, TCP/IP networking and website platform
architecture concepts****

****

Qualifications Preferred:****

****

• Experience in datacenter environments, equipment installation, cabling,
hardware replacements/upgrades ****

****

• Familiarity with server virtualization technology such as VMware, KVM or
Xen****

****

• Familiarity with modern filesystems and content storage technologies and
infrastructure****

****

• Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Chef
or Puppet****
