Good morning Linux Enthusiasts of Atlanta!

My name is Charlotte Kilroy and I am an IT Recruiter with TEKsystems in the Atlanta market.  I wanted to introduce myself to you all as I thought some of you might like to learn about the current IT growth in the greater Atlanta area as you have chosen to focus on a skill that is in very high demand.  There are over 5,000 IT jobs in Atlanta and we are seeing a heavy focus for Linux professionals; everything from Linux Administration to Linux Architecture.  With that being said, I wanted to share with you all just one of the openings we have available.  Even if this isn't something that would be of interest to you, we receive new Linux openings on a weekly basis so I would be happy to speak with you about pipelined needs as well.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Cumberland Mall area
Duration: 6 months + ability to get extended (main project isn't supposed to end until 12/2012
Rate: Negotiated based on experience

Our client's delivery organization is in need of a Red Hat Linux Engineer for a 6 month plus contract. This engineer will be part of a 12 person team consisting of Linux/Windows/Solaris Engineers, a Web Logic Engineer, a Technical Writer and a VMware specialist. The Computing and Virtualization Services team needs this engineer to assist with over 100 pipelined projects.

Day to Day Duties:
They will split their time between 50% project based work and 50% operational work. For the project work, they will be working with PMs, Architects, Storage teams, network teams etc to build, configure, install and support new systems for the migrated applications; they will be the Tier IV (highest) level of support and will troubleshoot any high level issues on the current systems.

MUST HAVES:
6-8 years exp as a Red Hat Linux Engineer
Strong experience with Veritas Cluster Server(VCS) & Veritas Cluster File System (VxFS)
Vmware experience (RH sitting on VMware on Blade servers)
3-4 yrs scripting experience: Perl or Bash or Python (must create from scratch)
Experience building, configuring, installing OS, installing software on RHEL

Pluses:
Knowledge of network integration
Knowledge of Storage - NetApp & SAN
Symantec
Solaris 10 experience
