Technisource is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity with one of our leading financial services clients.  The Engineer will provide Tier 2 support for the Linux group. The candidate will be working in a mostly Red Hat Enterprise Linux infrastructure, but will need to have good experience in multiple Linux/Unix flavors.

Responsibilities:
* Provide operational system engineering support for 2,500+ Linux based servers in a high availability, 24x7x365 environment.
* Provide initial Incident support through a 24X7 global shift schedule
* Perform advance troubleshooting, resolution and problem analysis.
* Provide continual services improvements to services and existing infrastructure
* Create and execute Change Control requests for hardware, OS and applications.
* Provide cross training to immediate support team and tier 1 team.
* Ability to handle multi-tasks and meet deadlines for both project and service request work.
* In-depth documentation of activities and system configuration.
* Develop custom reports to meet the business needs.

Requirements
*5+ years' experience in Red Hat Linux to include but not limited to the following:  patching, kernel/memory management, OS troubleshooting, log standards, cron/scheduling, in-depth understanding of NFS, performance tuning, an in-depth knowledge of the file system and utilities.
* Apache Web Servers  Strong configuration and troubleshooting background with Apache 2.0 and above.
* WebLogic - Configure/troubleshoot all aspects of WebLogic 8.1-11g.  Must thoroughly understand Admin Server/Nodemanager/Managed Server relationship, as well as grasp the concept of Domains.  Must thoroughly understand configuration, thread usage monitoring, start and stop sequencing, log analysis for WebLogic, understand memory utilization, and WLProxy configuration.
*Advance Scripting - in Perl or Bash/Sh.
*Strong server provisioning knowledge and experiences with HP Server Automation (HPSA).
*Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills.
*Able to adapt to change in deadlines and changes in the nature of assignments.
* Capable of clear and direct communication with peers and management.
* Able to manage assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, while recognizing the need for a high degree of accuracy and quality.
*Bachelor's degree in IS,CS or IT related subjects desired.

Competencies/Traits desired
* ITIL V3 certification or basic understanding of ITSM.
* Familiarity with PCI compliance and server hardening best practices.
* VMWare - operation, memory/cpu usage, networking, start/stop of VMware utilities, troubleshooting, etc.
* ETrust - Able to troubleshoot all aspects of user management, add/delete/modify groups and users.  Troubleshoot all aspects of user access/security policy, and appropriately resolve issues.
* Networking/routing topologies and technologies - switch port/network port configuration and troubleshooting, understanding of VLAN topologies, understanding of Firewall and Foundry rulesets and locations in the network, understanding of GSLB and how it works/operate
