Salary Range: $47,300 to $62,200

Description

*The Systems Support Engineer II will perform primary system
administration support on central IT enterprise servers operating on
UNIX (Redhat Linux, Solaris). These duties include installation and
maintenance of operating systems, their network services,
troubleshooting problems and performance issues, and configuration
management.

*_KEY RESPONSIBILITIES_*

   * Successful candidate will participate in experienced system
     administration team to provide production support for OIT's Core
     services.
   * Activities will include installation and maintenance of server
     hardware, virtualization platforms, and software installations for
     OIT as well as external customers using OIT delivered services.
   * Must be able to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve server problems as
     they occur.
   * Work with project teams to implement and manage Redhat/Solaris
     services, including installation, testing, user access, patching,
     and upgrades.
   * Will perform system integration and design activities on new
     technologies&  applications, make recommendations, and work with
     project teams to develop implementation plans as needed

*Qualifications

_EDUCATION
_*Basic Qualifications:

   * Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science; or equivalent
     combination of education and experience

*_EXPERIENCE
_*Basic Qualifications:

   * 3 or more years of job related experience specific to providing
     systems administration with UNIX as primary/core job responsibility
     is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

   * Experience providing primary/core system administration for medium
     to large UNIX server environments (over 100 servers)
   * Skills troubleshooting system and application performance issues
     using standard system utilities
   * Experience maintaining servers for centralized email systems,
     HRMS/Financial applications, student registration systems,
     webhosting solutions, or identity management
   * Strong skills in system utilities and scripting; writing scripts to
     automate system auditing, health checks, OS patching, system monitoring
   * Strong verbal and written communication skills, documenting common
     procedures and processes
   * Experience deploying virtual servers into a production
     virtualization environment
