Hi Aaron,

Thanks for responding to my message. I have included the job
description for our client. If you could make it available to anyone
who might be interested, I would appreciate it. The position is
contract through at least the end of the year, possibly going into
January/February. W2 position at a pay rate around $50/hr. Thanks
again.

A Linux Embedded Software Engineer with previous experience deploying a
Linux product for reproduction in a manufacturing facility. Individuals
must be well versed in Linux applications with the ability to execute
system configuration tasks, conduct Linux Kernel tuning and de-bugging
Linux applications. Previous experience programming and testing
embedded Linux applications. The primary duties for this project
require the person to have the expertise and ability to make necessary
recommendations and modifications to existing Linux configurations.
These changes will ultimately allow the Linux system to be more secure
and enhance the performance aspects of the product.

The company manufactures Marine equipment like fish finders, depth
finders, GPS products, etc.

There are two main aspects to this work. First the system configuration
tasks relate to what they called hardening Linux-making it so other
people can't access features they are not supposed to. There are USB
ports on the back of the product. Configure the product so a hacker
wouldn't be able to plug into the USB port and access information they
shouldn't have. Make it so it only runs on their application. In the
end making the product more secure. Second they want them to be able to
do the Linux Kernel tuning in order to get the most performance from the
existing configurations.
