Under broad direction, manages and leads information technology planning,
strategies, and initiatives for the district. Duties include ensuring the
establishment of cost effective policies, programs, and frameworks that
develop and implement information technology programs and initiatives that
support the districts strategic plan; providing effective leadership for
large-scale, high-impact technology projects (e.g. the Longitudinal Data
System project) from conception through implementation; establishing goals
for meeting APS information technology needs; making informed decisions and
recommendations that produce high-quality results by applying technical
knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks; ensuring fiscal
responsibility and accountability for technology services' initiatives,
plans, and technical support activities; managing multi-million dollar
budget(s) in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations;
ensuring good stewardship of public resources for all technology services'
initiatives; ensuring the establishment of information technology and data
security policies; providing direction and leadership for instructional
technology projects and programs, articulately communicating to subordinate
staff, APS colleagues, and external stakeholders; promoting and facilitating
teamwork; productively resolving disputes or concerns and recommending
constructive improvements to avoid future conflicts; displaying a high-level
of effort and commitment to public service; operating effectively within the
organizational structure; and demonstrating strong ethics and
trustworthiness.
Minimum Training & Experience:
A master's degree in information systems, education, business, or a related
field and seven years of experience managing information technology systems,
strategies, initiatives, and budgets at the senior management-level. This
experience must include documented success managing large-scale, high-impact
technology information systems and related initiatives; documented success
working effectively in a large organization(s); documented success with
project management, including planning, meeting deadlines, and producing
quality deliverables within established budget(s); and documented success
strategically managing human, financial, and information resources. Must
have exceptional leadership, communication, organization, project
management, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the
minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
