This is a full time, direct hire opportunity with one of my clients in
the Metro area.  The salary range is 75-90k plus benefits, vacation,
401k, casual environment, and bonus.



Senior UNIX Engineer



Day-to-day, the candidate will be responsible for building and
maintaining the high-availability 24/7 Infrastructure Environment. The
candidate will be responsible or will participate in all
infrastructure initiatives within the company that involve Solaris,
Linux, SAN, Apache, Load Balancing, VMware, Oracle, SQL Databases,
Citrix etc.



Responsibilities:



*           Responsible for implementation and upkeep of OS and
software installation infrastructure.

*           Responsible for the design and documentation of server
deployment processes.

*           Responsible for the development of operational
tools/scripts used to monitor application and system processing.

*           Responsible for providing senior-level implementation,
administration of Solaris 10 servers,  applications and projects in a
highly available, redundant and recoverable 24x7 environment.

*           Troubleshoot hardware, software application and data center assets.

*           Develop/maintain operational tools/scripts used to monitor
application and system processing.

*           Performance Tuning of hardware/software/apps.

*           Implement Backup and Recovery process and technology.

*           System Availability / System Capacity Planning.

*           Develop and enforce Information Security procedures.

*           Expert Knowledge in Web Application Load Balancing.
Preferable F5 BIG IP Technology

*           Strong Understanding of VMware Infrastructure.

*           Implement Backup and Recovery process and technology.

*           Document, initiate and implement changes under change management.

*           Document processes and procedures supporting this role.

*           Provide 2nd and 3rd level escalation and rotating on-call
support/Assist in the definition and resolution of OS, application and
database problems.

*           Working knowledge of SAN, backup and other enterprise
applications to maintain availability and recoverability of multiple
unique and complex customer applications.

*           Knowledge of Telecommunications hardware, software and
configurations, network infrastructure and design, network topology's
and protocols for solutions spanning multiple business functions.
Knowledge of the development of network architectures and standards.



Required Skills:



*           7- 10 years experience in UNIX Systems
Engineering/Administration required Sun Solaris (Primary), Linux is a
plus.  Project management skills are a big plus.

*           Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision. Proven
leadership skills and knowledge of automating enterprise application
deployments. Bachelors Degree or equivalent required

*           Candidate must participate in 24/7 on-call rotation which
includes being available to assist with issues even when not on call.

*           Basic understanding of Oracle and Oracle components (i.e.
9i, 10G, etc.)

*           Experience with Cisco and overall network architecture
components a plus

*           Good understanding of Storage and related Products Solaris
Volume Manager, Symantec NetBackup, and Clustering. Strong Scripting
ability Korn Shell or Perl
