[mirror-admin] Procedure to nicely shut down a mirror?

I'm going to be shutting down mirror.hiwaay.net over the next week or
so; I'm leaving for a new company, and nobody else here is interested in
maintaining it. There's a good chance I'll be back with a mirror at the
new place in a month or two.
I'm not concerned about HTTP connections, since they should follow
mirrormanager, but I do see a fair number of rsync connections. Is
there anything reasonable I should do to let people know it is going
away, or should I just shut down rsync so they get "connection refused"
(followed by timeouts and then "host not found" errors when the server
goes away)?

I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.
