I like the idea of a yum mirror that is thrown into the network and
the network just does the right thing. Even though the canonical thing
would be to register the mirror to MM and then wait for the
information to propagate to the clients, sometimes you just want to
jumpstart a network with a mirror on your laptop, or simply install a
system in a client's network by just attaching the same laptop.

This is a step forward and will save a lot of dynamic home IP
setups. But the autodetection method would be a great addon to yum and
yum based code. I wish I could spare some cycles to follow up on that.
