Oh please, don't quote out of context. I wasn't replying to Carlos,
but to Chris. And the core question is not rsync 3.x or not, but using
fresh Fedora (which has a fresh rsync, fresh io scheduler, fresh
whatever) vs RHEL with many bandaids like a RHEL backpackage of rsync
or maybe even a custom kernel for a better io scheduler etc etc.

So you consider Fedora a "maintenance nightmare"?

I'm using rsync 3.x on RHEL since Apr 22nd and it works well (but
that's not a RHEL level QA). Still I'm moving to Fedora for the
mirrors. Is that because I wish to fall into a "maintenance
nightmare"? Actually I like Fedora's latest hard disk and filesystem
enhancements and don't want to wait until RHEL6 to benefit from
them. <crystal ball>And I'm sure a year after RHEL6 will have been out
there will be important bits in Fedora 14/15 for me to envy. Most
probably a stable brtfs which will make its way into RHEL in
RHEL7.</crystal ball>
