So, yeah, WD is not just willing but eager to gouge their customers.
The Seagate 530R 2TB is up from $195 to ... out of stock. Was $270 last
I saw.
Interestingly, the Seagate wins on every metric shown on this site
(where it isn't a tie) except one category: number of on-board
controllers (WD has 9, Seagate has 8), which gave WD a win as this in
theory makes the WD faster.
Yet the actual read / write speeds have Seagate winning every category,
and twice the TBW durability specs.
Interesting.
