I could easily get by with 2TB on my *laptop*. It's my *main desktop* I
need the big storage on.
You mentioned data you need every 10 years. That's the whole point. A
lot of my use for a computer is as the world's largest filing cabinet,
and it's a magical filing cabinet that can go down 10 levels of
hierarchy and can be magically searched relatively quickly.
Now that we have bind mounts I don't need as much extra size as before,
because I can have a huge but fixed size filing cabinet with infinitely
growable file folders, so I only need to do the "this partition is ok
now, but what about 2 years from now, better make it bigger"
calculation once rather than several times cumulatively.
