Cut it in half, drop it in a bucket of water, and after a few seconds
toss in a match and watch the water burn! 

LiIon isn't inhernetly toxic, just highly volatile.

But that said, any hardware store (or Best Buy, last time I set foot in 
one) accepted old LiIon batteries.
