My Android phone has a "Call Screen" feature, where it will answer the call
and ask the caller questions like who they are and what they want, and
display the speech-to-text to me. Recently, I've been able to have that
happen automatically if the call is not from someone in my contacts. Most
spammers hang up before answering the questions so I never see them. It
seems to be working pretty well. Our Comcast home phone has some other spam
thing where it just rings once if it's spam. My wife set that up so I don't
know what it is. Our work has an Asterisk system that requires the caller
to make some selection before any phone rings which eliminates most of
them, but a few get through. At least they're actual people though.
