Another trick is to seal drive in plastic bad and put in the freezer. Run usb cable out of freezer to ddrescue system.

Last trick is to find another drive with same make and model and swap electronic board. 

The absolute last ditch effort is then take the replacement drive and dead drive, wear surgeon gloves, put all needed tools and drives in a very large, clear plastic bag and have your hands taped into the bag. Move the old platters to the new drive or move new motor to old drive. Yeah, it can work. Don't try moving the heads.
