The embedding of "Buy coca cola!" in the penultimate sentence, the final non sequitur sentence and the smiley at the end were all clues.
Maybe that email proves that subliminal messages actually work. Did you feel an urge to drink a coke after reading it? :p

Advertisers were using websites to track which media people watch on other media devices.
