[ale] Wine+Steam works, but no game window

So I have wine installed ( latest ubuntu, 1.9.16 ) and Steam is running
fine.  When I start the game ( No Mans Sky ) it reports its running,
including the process is visible in my shell ) but the NMS window never
pops up nor is it visible in the KDE task manager.  Anyone run into this or
am I missing something stupid again?
