If there were lots of new kernels loaded in those few days, there was/is
a common problem with /boot getting full and breaking the boot process.
With an  LVM-based boot, /boot is a separate partition and requires
manual management.  In theory, it should hold 5-10 kernels. I only keep
3 around to be safe.

I don't know if desktop Ubuntu has decided to address this pro-actively
or not. Stopped loading desktop OSes a few years ago. Life has been much
easier since then.
