For a slightly less complex non-LV'd example, here's my laptop....

root at bling:~# parted -l
Model: ATA ST1500LM003-9YH1 (scsi)
Disk /dev/sda: 1500GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/4096B
Partition Table: msdos

Number Start End Size Type File system Flags
 1      1049kB  21.0GB  21.0GB  primary   ext4
 2      21.0GB  146GB   125GB   primary   ntfs            boot
 3      146GB   163GB   17.2GB  primary   linux-swap(v1)
 4      163GB   1500GB  1337GB  extended
 5      163GB   185GB   21.5GB  logical   ext4
 6      185GB   206GB   21.5GB  logical   ext4
 7      206GB   228GB   21.5GB  logical   ext4
 8      228GB   1500GB  1273GB  logical   ext4

1 = debian oldstable
2 = win 8.1
3 = swap
4 = don'cha love msdos partitions?
5 = ubuntu
6 = archlinux
7 = debian stable
8 = grub boot file + data + vm'd drives

+VMs w/ qemu-img drives (mostly qemu-kvm, not using virt-manager)
3 android
2 archlinux
3 ubuntu
2 windows
1 fedora
2 debian stable
1 reactos (I was curious...)

Phil, I'm impressed by your setup and it's obviously a much bigger part of your workflow than mine is... but I'm missing how the LVs help vs using the virtual achine drives. What am I not seeing?

thanks!
