[ale] Linux Bind9 and Windows .local dns?

It isn’t clear what you’re asking.   Do you have domain in DNS called “.local”?  If so in which DNS (Windows or BIND does it exsit.)

Are setting up /etc/resolv.conf to see the Linux DNS on your Linux system?   Do you have the local BIND in that resolv.conf as one of the servers to query? If so is it before or after the Windows DNS?   Do you have the search domains in that resolv.conf?

Is the issue in fact only that you can’t resolv from Linux?

  I've set up a bind9 server ( Ubuntu ) for a subnet ( 172.27/16 ) at work to support some lab space.  I've found a problem where it seems some Windows boxes are not correctly resolving the corp.local domain even though I'm referencing the corp dns servers and internal.corp.com<http://internal.corp.com> works just fine, just not the .local.  I can access with \\aaa.bbb.ccc.dd\share<file:///\\aaa.bbb.ccc.dd\share> correctly and ping aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd without issue.

Anyone seen this or have a link?  Googling "linux bind9 windows domain" provides a lot of red herrings.
