Chances are you are resolving to facebook's IPv6 address, but you
either didn't have a route to get there, or packets coming back
couldn't find the end node inside your network (no IPv6 NAT).

I don't use a global IPv6 address (yet), but don't generally disable
it.  When I had similar problems before, I had to make sure that I
preferred IPv4 name resolution over IPv6 in /etc/gai.conf
