[ale] grub stupid question

ok, I'm not sure I understand how this works... I blew away my sda to
try to rebuild windows 7 ( bad idea). I got a nice recovery USB stick
from Dell that... didn't fix it. I'm thinking I am missing the drivers
for the new Seagate ST3100 3TB drive I installed as sda ( that' another
thread..)
so my root & /home partitions are on sdb, BUT I had swap on sda (
another bad idea).. once I wiped sda, fedora won't boot, complains about
missing partition... removed swap from fstab and it STILL won't boot.
still complains about missing swap. I don't know where it is looking for
that info, but I'm guessing it is in /boot/System.map.xxxxxx

ANYWAY, all I have now in /boot is
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 148559 Jan 19 11:06 config-3.18.3-201.fc21.x86_64
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19985816 Jan 30 16:28
initramfs-3.18.3-201.fc21.x86_64.img
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 566383 Sep 15 23:17 initrd-plymouth.img
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 182704 Oct 21 06:08 memtest86+-5.01
-rw------- 1 root root 2992379 Jan 19 11:06
System.map-3.18.3-201.fc21.x86_64
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 5628280 Oct 27 18:45
vmlinuz-0-rescue-78db501f7f8d403c938e4d646de9a9c4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 5795320 Jan 19 11:06
vmlinuz-3.18.3-201.fc21.x86_64

yet when I boot into rescue I am running
uname -a
Linux pauls-server 3.16.1-301.fc21.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 13:06:39 UTC
2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

is 3.16 the rescue kernel??
