Actually I have a test Ansible and Salt system up already.  I have to turn these servers over to another support team and Ansible, Salt, etc… might be a bit over their heads (sigh).

 

That’s why I’ve been writing standalone maintenance scripts… virtually ID-10-T proof and nothing for them to configure.

Hmm...I don't recall the Pyexpect bit being very good. Of course, it could be operator error. Expect is usually sufficient, and TCL isn't that difficult. 

You might want to look at Ansible, CFEngine, Puppet, or Chef at some point in time.
