I remember back in the "old" days (94?) my biggest challenge was to get
X-Windows working.   I absolutely loved Enlightenment but usually ended up
going back to WM because it was more stable.

Like I always say, LXDE in its current form is abandoned, but LXQT is
nowhere near ready for prime time yet. Basically, sometime soon your entire
desktop is going to change when Lubuntu moves entirely from a GTK to a Qt
based DE.
