HA!  There's your problem!  NetworkManagler to the "does not work".  All
my servers or any machines using virtual interfaces, vlan tagging, or
bridges, the first thing that must be done is shoot NetworkManager in
the head.  The static network code does what's right.

The only thing I really feel NetworkManager is useful for is when you
have WiFi involved and it keeps trying to prove me wrong on that vector
as well.
