[ale] wireless security

I am about to install a new router.
Two questions:

Given what has happened in the past year, what is now considered "best 
practice" for wireless security?  I know that WEP is broken, but I could 
use some advice on its replacement.

Views, suggestions for replacing the router's OS also would be 
appreciated.  I know next to nothing about the strengths and weaknesses of 
the competing operating systems for routers.
