Going 55 MPH would have made my 9000 mile Alaskan trip take days longer than it actually did.   Luckily one doesn't see many mounties on the Alaska Highway through the Yukon.

On my recent trip to Montreal/Quebec City I noticed the Provincial speed limit is only 100kph (60mph).  It made the usual 110kph (66mph) of other provinces seem generous indeed.   Most US states allow a maximum of 70mph outside the cities and some even allow 75mph.

What I love is at all the borders how they have big signs telling you the speed limits are in kph rather than mph then give the example that 50kph is 30kph.    They don't bother to put "kph" on the actual speed limit signs - just the number.

Another fun thing is how people in the northeast automatically assume they'll outdrive anyone they see with Georgia plates as if we don't have any cities that have traffic and driving patterns like theirs.
