For desktop:
Previously, before Unity, I would say Ubuntu 11.04.
Now, Mint 13 (based on Ubuntu 12.04) os.
Mate (fork of Gnome 2) desktop.
Firefox Browser, plus, at a minimum, NoScript plugin.
