[ale] Thunderbird Slowness

Personal note, I hate Evolution. Lost a lot of my mail because it tried 
to compact and never tested that it had space to compact. This happened 
right about the time my old backup server flaked out. So I have *some* 
mail from 1999 onwards, but not all.  :(
