Yes, the default is set to Ctrl + v for filling in your userID &
passwd, although you can change it but I just never have, didn't see a
problem there.

By the way, I have since re-installed from scratch as I did 2 no-no's
at the same time, while using a second user to test the problem
further. I'm too embarrassed to say on-line, but if you ask at the
next meet I'll tell you. It's embarrassing, funny and not so funny all
at the same time. I'm now convinced that when I did the original
install on my new SSD that something must of gone wrong at that time
that was not apparent and it just grew from there. In retrospect there
were a few minor quirks with cursor focus issues that I wrote off as a
GNOME issue that are not there this time around.
