[ale] Something blew up -- but what

Changing the video feed from DVI to VGA has allowed the system to show mp4 
videos.  I have absolutely no clue why the DVI connection isn't working 
correctly.  Next step is to prowl around in the BIOS settings and see 
what's there that might be part of this.
