[ale] OT: ruby/redmine/apache

I'm trying to build out a redmine system.  It looks like everything is
right but when I hit the main page I get this:

Application error Rails application failed to start properly


In the error log I'm getting this:

When I log into the system as www-date user and do "which ruby" it can't
find ruby which is here:

/usr/local/rvm/rubies/ruby-1.8.7-p358/bin/ruby

I tried going into my vhost definition and putting this:

        SetEnv ruby /usr/local/rvm/rubies/ruby-1.8.7-p358/bin/ruby

Putting an alias for ruby, linking ruby in /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin did
not help.

Any one have any ideas?
