Of course, but try convincing the “normal” people in the world of that.
 The problem is that they don't really care.  If it Just Works, they are
happy.

This is the major reason that I love Android-capable phones.  For that
matter, you're not even really restricted to running Android on them,
but it would be kind of inconvenient to do anything else.

I would LOVE to see a really efficient smartphone operating system that
can breathe new life into old hardware like the G1.  I understand that
as we move forward and more functionality is added, the operating
systems get heavier and heavier... but I can't help but think that if
the whole system were in optimized native code in the first place, the
on-flash and in-memory footprints would be significantly reduced and the
system would be better for it.

Oh, well.  Long live Java and Dalvik, I suppose.  :)
