[ale] Low voltage work in GA

I remember years ago when the company I worked for then first called a data cabling company (as opposed to electrician) and they specified plenum rated cable which was more experience than cat5. When our GM suggested they ignore the code and use the lower priced cat5 the vendor rightly told him that he wasn’t willing to lose his license to win the bid. We ended up using him and the plenum rated cable.

My recollection was that plenum rated cable removed the need for conduit. (That is you need to either use plenum rated or conduit but not both.) I’m not licensed in this stuff myself so I could be wrong.

Georgia has several low voltage licenses. They seem to require one year of experience before getting the license. Of course, I am not allowed to get that experience before getting the license. Just to install cat6 in an office? Seriously? I could be reading things incorrectly here but I don't think I am.

hrm, first I've herd you need a license for this, but I haven't thrown
any cables in years tho. Maybe your thinking certified?
