[ale] [OT] Mars Lander!

Probably - my response did contain a little humor (I know...very little...).

Don't get me wrong if I had my way folks would have to have a permit to drive those behemoths in rush hour. It continually amazes me how much money folks are willing to waste driving in urban environments by themselves in vehicles more appropriate for wilderness treks. If everyone drove single passenger cars or those the size of smart cars I might be more willing to do so (or even ride a bike). I'm not willing to risk my life in one of them now.

Speaking of which - my Chrysler 300 Touring just got back from ~9,200 mile road trip to Alaska. The ~1530 mile Alaska Highway would probably have been easier on an SUV than my car. Especially the last couple of hundred in the Yukon where the road is in the worst shape. There were several large dips that made me think I was one of the Duke boys driving the General Lee when I hit them at speed. The town near where the bad part starts is appropriately enough named "Destruction Bay".
