[ale] headphone / speaker problems

I have an additional related question. I need to find some other USB
sound cards that are known to work with Ubuntu 11.04, ones that I could
buy from NewEgg or Fry's for example. I don't know if the one
Plantronics provides can be purchased separately from headphones. I need
a tiny dongle that plugs into USB, not a big box.

Requirements:

* Plug and play compatible with Ubuntu 11.04 and preferably other Linux
OS's as well as Windows.
* 1 Stereo headphone / speaker output
* 1 Mono mic input

Mo' better optional features:

* 5.1 virtual surround sound output (simulated, outputs to 2 speakers)
and / or
* 5.1 real surround sound output (outputs to 6 speakers)

* 1 Stereo mic input

Sincerely,

Ron

(PS - If you email me and don't get a quick response, you might want to
call on the phone. I get about 300 emails per day from alternate energy
mailing lists and such. I don't always see new messages very quickly.)
