It will not work.  It's just a species bender (as opposed to gender 
bender)  from what I can tell it's akin to that goofy cable APC includes 
with some of it's UPS devices which has USB on one end and RJ-45 on the 
other.  It's just a cable, no other electronics.  Seems like some modems 
have this same port FEATURE.  If you look at the device itself on the 
laptop you'll see it only uses a minimal amount of pins.  I don't think 
that the adapter is being used as it was intended in the picture 
included on the page.
