[ale] mint 10 lxde running kdm?

Hello all,

I am having an issue getting my machine to run extended desktop from laptop
to a monitor. After much research I learned 2 facts,
1. my ATI Radeon mobility 7500 graphics card is not supported anymore and
was included in the linux driver ATI made and only very basic support is
provided by the community driver.

2. When running KDE I can get an extended desktop because the monitor
management app is able to configure it on the fly.

But kde is too heavy a DE for my system to handle and get decent
performance. Hence I am running an LXDE install. It happens to be Mint 10
LXDE, which I am enjoying.

What steps can I take to get my system to run lxde up front and the kde
display manager in the back?

Or where is the temporary configuration held by kde when it lets me run the
extended desktop. If it is really just creating an on the fly temporary
xorg.conf file, wouldn't I be able to capture those settings and then dump
them into a xorg.conf inside of LXDE?

Not a serious issue, but extra desktop realestate is always nice.

Thanks

Joshua
