[ale] .NET considered harmful

Well, that's one route. If you feel that's necessary, Jerald, then you
have a right to take it. I wish you well, as do probably several of
us whom you've helped, and I hope you find an environment you feel
more comfortable with.

I'm very disturbed by some of the political leanings and the
vocabulary usage on the list, but that's people. If they agreed with
every thing I did, what kind of rigid subsociety would we really be?
Or extrapolate that further to a whole society: we'd be a prime
example of group think.

But that's part of life. My brother just said some of the most
shocking things I have heard because I believed he was intelligent and
rational at all times. But right now, he's acting like the world is
going to end (Fukushima). It's disappointing, but it is real. I'm
not going to dissolve that relationship because of that, I just won't
participate in a discussion that leads to those topics.

I've stayed out of this one for the most part, because everyone one of
you will have something to say about my beliefs. I stay here because
on numerous occasions there is great value participating here because
I learn about things in Linux. On occasion, I even get an opportunity
to help too. And I generally stay the hell out of these threads
because it is a time suck because the fact remains that this is NOT
the best opportunity to convince someone of the righteousness of your
own beliefs. I simply read the emails in case there was anything of
value in it, and then move on to the next thread.

Yeah, there's noise on this list. Very few lists ever deliver on a
good signal to noise ratio. But I find this one still holds up, no
matter how bad the noise gets every now and again.

You contribute, and I've seen you get help from others. The other
stuff is ignorable, save for the fact I try and remember when talking
to y'all that I shouldn't bring up X or Y topic, since that will be
pointless.

Rather you stayed, but, I respect your right to make that choice.

Brian
