Quick question, is there any other tools beside chkrootkit or
rkhunter? I just noticed that chkrootkit had been updated in about
year. I always like to have two apps to check.

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD,  an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
