[ale] OT: OSX, is it a bad drive?

Okay, I'm having issues with my macbook pro and I'm trying to determine
if it's a hardware issue or software issue. So, I generally leave it up
24/7. When I do shut it down, then reboot, invariably, it won't boot or
it will boot, but I find the drive is corrupt. I can boot from the
install disk and fix the partition.

So the question is, is this a software thing or hardware thing? I'm
thinking bad drive, but the thing will run for days without any problem.
The problem only exists when I reboot.

Most recently, I booted from the install disc, checked the filesystem
and it was corrupt. Fixed it, rebooted, after it booted to OSX, I ran
the disc utility and checked the disk, sure enough, corrupt.

Thoughts?
