Crap. There is one downside to my last idea. iPhone and iTouch. I
need 27k and 15k resistors on the D+ and D- lines to get the iTouch to
charge.
I know this because I bought a USB DC-DC converter off eBay from China.
It is a PCB that is built. I added those resistors on the D+ and D-
lines and charged my iTouch. I was using 3 AA's to charge iTouch. I
plugged the mifi in there. I killed the booster.... Parts of it
melted.
