[ale] 3D printing

Knowing next to nothing about freeside except it has various tools.

Can I do carpentry there?

On a big scale?

I want to buy some 8"x8" timbers, 10 ft. long.

Then drill (mortise really) holes through them that would let a 4"x4"
slide through?

I seriously doubt the answer is yes, but I've been looking and not
found much in the way of solutions.

(My best bet is try to find someone with a good drill-press and buy a
1" mortising chisel for $300 or so. Then use the mortising chisel to
drill out the perimeter of the square I want, then flip the timber and
do it again.

Doable, but it would be much better with good tools.

fyi: My ultimate goal is to build a few high end kayak / canoe racks.
2 of the timbers 8' apart would be the vertical posts, then slide the
4x4s through them to be the arms.

Thanks
Greg
