Eyedrum is a widely recognized Art Gallery and Performance
Space in the Atlanta community celebrating it's 15th anniversary
this year.
It is an all-volunteer organization, and I volunteer there doing
sound and media tech, as well as serving on the Music committee
that selects and promotes performances. I also participate as a
musician at the monthly Open Improv sessions and occasionally
appear with other local performers.
Eyedrum offers a venue for unique and alternative artworks and
performance events that might not otherwise find presentation
space. The fire sculpture exhibit that opens Saturday (by an artist
regularly featured at Burning Man) and last night's First Thursday
Improv session being cases in point.
Of relevance here is that Eyedrum also tends to be a showcase
for a lot of electronic music, like the performer I arranged for
last month, Nathaniel Bartlett, who creates amazing 8 speaker
electronic spacial environments strictly using Linux and Open
Source software in performance with a 5 octave marimba.
A couple of ALE members attended both the artist talk on
Open Source music tools and the unique performance.

The Nov. 13th Earball is a Musical Carnival event that runs
all day (noon to 2am) with multiple overlapping performances
going on in the many gallery and activtiy spaces of the facility.
Unfortunately, Eyedrum is being forced to move from their
current space, so the Earball is also a fundraiser to help
finance the re-location to a yet to be decided venue.
