[ale] Bad bad feeling here...

This may just be my innate over active paranoia kicking in but this just
can not be good. Not at all.
Novell has agreed to be bought out by Attachmate, which is, in and of
itself, not a bad thing (Novell needed to be picked up by someone).
http://www.boston.com/business/ticker/2010/11/novell_agrees_t_1.html
The devil is in the details. Attachmate gets and will run "Novell and
SUSE" but...
"Novell also said it has entered into an agreement for the concurrent
sale of certain intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings LLC, a
consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft Corp., for
$450 million in cash..."
Take the current Novell and subtract off Novell the brand (presuming
Netware included) and SUSE and what's left (worth a cool $450 million in
cash)? The only things I can think of would be the Old UNIX licenses
and properties, which were at the heart of the SCO litigation until
Novell blew the wheels off from under SCO. Where fore goes UnixWare.
I've got a bad feeling this is not going to end well. I may be wrong
and I really REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I just gotta a baaad feeling
Abbot (cue walking dead mummy).
Regards,
Mike
