[ale] I'm confused

I totally understand the start from purchase date.  In my opinion this is a game.  We are both placing bets.  By paying the same amount as someone who started from the beginning their odds have increased by 50%.  I get half the value out of it.  Think about it. Would you pay the same amount knowing that what you just bought was 50% less? 

You can't sell insurance policies that cover the past.  It would be an instant win for the company.
