Yes, it is. And yes, phone tethering is absolutely awesome. When
you're in the middle of nowhere and all you have is EDGE, but you _need_
to do something with your computer online, it's an amazing thing to
have.
Just keep in mind that it _is_ against many agreements to use the phone
as an Internet gateway unless you pay them for separate service for your
computer. I only tether when I absolutely must, for that reason
(besides, it is probably pretty obvious when I have to tether; it's not
like I run bzr on my phone).
