I've had similar experiences with the residential service. Phone support 
actually not only knew how to get around in routers and networks, but 
were able to suggest changes to router settings on my case Linksys, and 
where in setup this was. I've only had a couple of times where I needed 
to call, but both times I found this to be the norm as well as the fact 
that some people prefer to use other OSs than M$, and know how to get in 
and check network settings. My first experience was with a guy that 
actually uses Linux at home on all systems.
