That was my impression of it as well. It was too limited, and I missed the
desktop switcher app, it is very handy having multiple desktops to work
with.
does anyone know if there is a plug-in for firefox that lets you resize the
page display similar to how opera will let you reduce or zoom the entire
page? I like firefox better than opera but I may reconsider this for the
netbook. 1024x600 is a tad on the limited side for viewing some web pages.

I've used the Ubuntu Netbook Remix on an HP Mini and I didn't like it.
I ended up using the default Ubuntu Gnome. I made the bottom panel
very thin and set it to auto hide. I left the top panel visible
though. What I really didn't like about UNR was having to go back to
the main desktop to see the apps. It really felt like I could only run
one app at a time. I know I was running more but it just felt that
way. You should give it a try and see what you think but I'd say most
people on this list will probably feel limited by it.
