I should explain for the benefit of you who haven't been keeping up with
this issue that in the southwest the people who are alarmed at the
increasing numbers of Latinos describe the children of undocumented workers
as "anchor babies".  Not children, not babies, but "anchor babies".  Every
time I hear that freakin' phrase the Woody Guthrie song "Deportees" runs
through my head ("and all they will call you will be deportees").
